The flag in horizontal format is the standard type most often used in Germany and abroad. The ratio of height to width is usually 2:3 (as with the European flag) or 3:5 (as in Germany) or sometimes 1:2 (as in the UK). Horizontal flags are displayed on vertical flagpoles (on the ground or on a building) or angled flagstaffs (for example on a ship, the wall of a building, on flag pylons or in rooms).
