When flags are to be displayed in Thuringia, all Land authorities and offices fly the federal flag and Land institutions flag. Otherwise, the Land flag is to be flown. The European flag is also to be displayed, if possible.

The federal flag is to be given the position of honour on the left, followed by the Land (institutions) flag and any other flags. If only three flags are hoisted, the position of honour is in the centre.

The European flag is to be flown in the second position of honour next to the federal and Land (institutions) flags. If only two flags can be flown, then only the federal and the Land (institutions) flag are to be displayed.
