In Saxony, the position of honour is at the far left as seen when facing the building. That is where the European flag is displayed, with the federal flag to the right, followed by the Land flag or Land institutions flag.

In addition, in the Sorbian settlement area the Sorbian flag may be flown, and in the Lower Silesian part of Saxony the flag of Lower Silesia may be flown.

If flags are not displayed round the clock, flags are to be hoisted at dawn, though not before 7:00, and are to be lowered at sunset, though not later than 19:00. If a non-permanent flag display extends over several days, flags are to be lowered on the final day as ordered.
